Infertility is defined
as the failure to conceive after a year of regular intercourse
without using contraception. This is nowadays a common problem,
found in one out of ten couples in Japan and especially among
couples aged 30 to 39 years old. There are 500,000 people in
Japan who had been officially diagnosed as infertile and about
300,000 people currently seeking infertility treatment.
Baby Comp, the Basal Rate Temperature Monitoring Device, will
be the helping hand for couples in conceiving a child and provide
them with the joy of natural family planning. Baby Comp is a
microcomputer with the capabilities of analyzing complicated
fertility cycles for women, combined with a gender indicator
function that no other competing products on the market are
equipped with. There are many assisted reproductive technologies
available in Japan, including artificial insemination and in
vitro fertilization, which varies in treatment methods, costs,
and success rates. |

There are five different
phases that couples go through in the course of dealing with
their infertility problem. As a result, Baby Comp will be positioned
in one of these phases as a superior alternative due to a higher
success rate that is not apparent in other infertility treatments.
